I picked this book up on a whim and it was lovely and powerful. It is a collection of poetry by 3 authors aimed towards both children and adults and it focuses on important and moving topics like race and equality and kindness. Very touching and I think it would be easy for anyone of any age to follow and understand.I picked this book up on a whim and it was lovely and powerful. I didn't laugh out loud as much as I did in the first volume, but it was still very enjoyable. I love the creativity and simplicity throughout and how easy it is to follow and relate to.

I find this series to be really refreshing and a bit darker than others in the genre, but this book itself wasn't as good as the first. I enjoyed it, but wasn't as hooked or amazed. It might be because so much of it was set in New York, or it's just really ramping up for book 3.I find this series to be really refreshing and a bit darker than others in the genre, but this book itself wasn't as good as the first. I found this book to be really strange. It kept flipping perspectives from different family members and timelines and I found it hard to follow. I think if it had said who was speaking and if it had followed a more linear timeline it would have been better. I don't understand the point behind it, why we had to get each person's view of different events, and even at the end I didn't feel there was any sort of conclusion.I found this book to be really strange. I really enjoyed this book, the plot is a bit similar to some other YA Fantasy novels, but the affinities were a neat twist and the ending was exciting and left me waiting impatiently for book 2.

I loved this almost as I loved The Starless Sea. I loved the characters and their journeys, and desire more than anything to find a Door. I thought it was really well done and really well put together, with just the right amount of mystery. I wish it had been longer.I loved this almost as I loved The Starless Sea. I love Trevor Noah, and this book did not let me down. It was a very honest and educational tale of his childhood in South Africa, what it was like growing up, and how apartheid affecting everything. Easily one of the best biographies I've read, and I look forward to his next one.I love Trevor Noah, and this book did not let me down. I am so in love with this book I am hesitant to start something else. I loved The Hunger Games, but found this to be almost better. Between the characters and the world building it was really well done, and even though the ending was a bit rushed and very "wait, what's happening" it explains a lot about him and their future.I am so in love with this book I am hesitant to start something else. I loved this, I thought it was really beautifully done. I enjoyed the rhyming text very much and the message it gives to kids is perfect. Inspired by his I Promise school, it tells them to stay in school and to always try their best and strive for greatness. It's a great set of daily mantras and I love "I promise to reach for my star".I loved this, I thought it was really beautifully done. This book had a lot of potential, but the pace really lost it for me. I found Olive to be kind of wishy-washy in the beginning with her feelings and decisions, but once she sets out for Africa she definitely had more of a spine. That sounded like quite a hard journey for an aristocrat. Regardless, the whole thing just kind of plodded along at a slow pace and even the exciting incidents didn't spark a lot of interest. The history and geography was interesting, but this was not the exciting journey that I expected. This book had a lot of potential, but the pace really lost it for me. I read this for the "A Genre You Don't Normally Care For" part of my 2020 reading challenge. I'm not usually into science fiction or space or aliens, but this book was fantastic. It's still a bit hard to believe it was 6 year olds accomplishing these things, but I enjoyed the characters and the story didn't end up feeling that far-fetched. The ending surprised me, but it resolved nicely and I'm looking forward to book 2.I read this for the "A Genre You Don't Normally Care For" part of my 2020 reading challenge.
