I'm rating this one at three stars only because of "Eggs", one of the three novellas, the other two being not up to much. Catherine, the protagonist of "Eggs" is a very appealing character and although her life is unremarkable, it's a very warm, human, appealing story. As I work my way through Harrison's books, I find a distinct pattern: His female characters are far more likeable and their stories more engaging. His male creations all seem to be varying versions of himself or at least to feature some aspect of Harrison's persona; and almost without exception, they come across as self-indulgent jerks. It may be a long time before I continue with some other of his works.
