Not as good as I expected. Yes, it keeps you interested but more like a page turner, as it does lack depth and as with many modern books on WW2 you feel that it is not author's own pain she describes. It's a great difference when you yourself have a toothache or just feel sorrow for someone who feels it. This book cannot bee even compared with works by Remarque, Heinrich Böll, Lion Feuchtwanger, Viktor Astafyev and Boris Vasilyev-the authors that had to live through the war.
