This book is very interesting to begin with. It starts with this girl caught up in a very sketchy environment and she is wanting to avenge the death of her friend. She was forced to take a drug called heam which makes you see a glimpse of heaven but when her friend Christian is murdered she sees a glimpse of hell. She has to keep this secret from her peers and work on avenging her friends death. I give it a 5 out of 5. - @nae1227221 of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board The Bodies We Wear is an extremely entertaining and intriguing story. The element that makes it worth reading is the main character, Faye. She is strong, has a bold personality and intense will power. The way her character takes shape through the course of the novel is impressive. I was intrigued by the novel the instant I had heard its name. After reading it, I realized how significant the name is to the story. In brief, The Bodies We Wear is about the revenge that a 17-year-old girl seeks upon the ones who scarred her life. The setting of the story is well described and is suitable to the events that occur in it. More importantly, the story revolves around the use of a drug and its effects on people. As drug-related issues are relevant to most parts of the world, I found this aspect of the story true to the societies we live in today. All in all, The Bodies We Wear kept me on the edge of my seat till the very end! It is an effectively written story and definitely worth reading! Rating 5/5 - @VirtueofReading of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library The Bodies We Wear is a fearless and electrifying novel about a seventeen-year-old girl Faye. She is a survivor of a Heam (a designer drug that essentially kills the body temporarily while people have vivid dreams) overdose, through no fault of her own. Her father was a Heam dealer and when things went off beam on his end, his boss went after his daughter Faye in retaliation. While Faye’s best friend died, she survived but she wished she hadn’t survived the drug overdose. Unfortunately, Faye’s mother kicked her out and Faye got taken by a former detective. The detective trained her for years to enact revenge on the men who forced her to take Heam. She tries to ignore the hunky, slightly familiar boy (who looked like her best friend) who is following her since the beginning of the novel and is resolute to save Faye from herself because he is aware that taking revenge from the people who destroyed Faye’s life won’t make her satisfied. The Bodies We Wear is an astonishing story and it will hold your attention the whole time. It wraps up all the loose ends and there is no cliffhanger ending. I would recommend this book if you are looking for something that feels different from other books in the paranormal young adult genre. If you like books that cross genre boundaries, then you will surely enjoy this book. The passage or the quote that I really loved from this book was: “The bodies we wear, they’re not the ones we always want. They get damaged. Used. It’s who we are on the inside that counts. The person waiting to jump free.” - @twilight of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library
