Although youthful sailor Laura Dekker had a long history of sailing experience she demonstrated a lot of guts and perseverance in this superbly filmed circumnavigation. I would have appreciated more explanation of the operation of her ketch-rigged sailboat such as the self-steering arrangement, the solar panel electricity supply, and water storage. The other message from this documentary is the heavy toll of yachting on Dekker's family. The simple animated maps were effective in making her route clear and landfalls identified. Her yacht "Guppy", with it round hull and small keel, might have been well suited to sailing the inland waters and canals of Holland but caused it to roll relentlessly. To get a sense of the longest legs taking over 3 months each view the Extended Scene titled "Sailing".
