Summary

Melanie Ross is the spunky heroine who seems to go from one disaster to another. This leads to some humourous situations and prickly predicaments. Caleb is an upstanding citizen, just trying to make a living for himself and his young son. He's taken over the mercantile after his Uncle's death and IF he was looking for a partner, Melanie would not fit the bill. I enjoyed this story. It's more of a historical romance set in the Arizona West than a suspenseful mystery but it has its own charm. The characters are likeable, if not always completely believable (the Mayor and his wife are fully stereotypical), the plot has some unique twists that make it pretty hard to solve the mystery, and the verbal sparring between the two protagonists is witty and lighthearted.
