127 Hours is about the story of climber and adventurer, Aron Ralston. On a solo trip to Utah’s Blue John Canyon, Aron finds himself stuck between a rock and a hard place. After slipping on a loose rock in the canyon, he falls, and his arm ends up getting trapped by a boulder against the canyon wall. Stuck, he considers his options and does everything he can in order to return home. This film is based on the true story told by Aron Ralston himself in his book appropriately named “Between a rock and a hard place”. The movie was directed by Danny Boyle and stars James Franco (Aron Ralston), Kate Mara (Kristi Moore) and Amber Tamblyn (Megan McBride). To me, this movie tells such a great story of perseverance and determination. James Franco’s portrayal of Aron Ralston has been widely acclaimed for its accuracy, and it shows. I often had knots in my stomach because of how gritty his acting was. 127 Hours is a brilliant film with incredible acting and true storytelling that is nearly a 1 to 1 copy of how it really happened. I give this movie a 4.5/5. @Sans of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board
