Shadow of the Giant is the third book in the Shadow series, a spin-off of the Ender’s Game series. This book follows members of Ender’s team (who destroyed the formics) after the Third Invasion, when they return to Earth. Battle School trained them to be military geniuses, and fuelled their dreams of being conquerors, resulting in the children to become leaders of their nations leaving Earth on the brink of another World War. The only one smart enough to defuse the situation is Bean, the most intelligent of all Battle School children, who is preoccupied with the gigantism that is slowly killing him. I found this book to be very well written, although slower than most books in the Enderverse. The story does an excellent job of setting up the other books of the Ender’s Game series (as this book is set before the second book of the series chronologically), while still managing to have an interesting story of its own. 5/5 Stars - @Fulton of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

So this one was pretty good. By the end I was skimming over the politics stuff because it wasn't as interesting as the scientific stuff in the Ender Quartet but the relationships between Petra, Peter, and Bean were really nice. I've almost finished all the enderverse series and none of them have disappointed

Orson Scott Card’s Shadow of the Giant (2005) - Ender Shadow Series Book 4 - continues Bean’s story. Excellent book! This was my tenth book by the author and I have thoroughly enjoyed all of them. Doctor-at-Bass! Taylor A.

I ended up reading this book out of order, but it didn't seem to matter too much. As most authors do in sequels, Card spent a bit of time recapping what happened in the two books I skipped.

The Bean series is far better, in my opinion, than the rest of the Ender series. If you're looking for more coherent story like Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow, stick with the Bean side of things. Ender's side gets really weird and metaphysical really fast.
