An epic saga of organized crime in post-war America told through the eyes of World War II veteran Frank Sheeran, a hustler and hitman who worked alongside some of the most notorious figures of the twentieth century. Left behind by the world, former hit man and union truck driver Frank Sheeran looks back from a nursing home on his life's journey through the ranks of organized crime: from his involvement with Philadelphia mob boss Russell Bufalino to his association with Teamsters union head Jimmy Hoffa to the rift that forced him to choose between the two.

Martin Scorsese proves once again why he is one of the greatest filmmaker of all time. From start till the end the movie is brilliant, slower than usual Scorsese flicks, but brilliantly done. The editing of the movie is terrific and it will never bore, it movies at a slow pace, its poetic and story is just outstanding. Al Pacino was the standout performance for me, he gave a mind blowing performance, probably the best performance of the year. Joe Pesci was unbelievably good, especially considering Goodfellas, Casino and Raging Bull, he was really different. Robert De Niro was mesmerizing, just outstanding, especially in the last 30 minutes he was insane. The movie movie had one of the most impactful last 30 minutes, emotional and makes one question about their life. 10/10- cinema at its finest.

A great Scorcese film similar to GoodFellas, Casino, Mean Streets. It is the first time that Scorcese made a film with Al Pacino. A portrait of loyalty and betrayal, may I suggest of Shakespearian levels? There is some question as to whether the ending is truthful (Vanity Fair Magazine).

Everything about this movie is perfect, from the acting to the cinematography. Yes- it is a long movie, 3hrs 20 minutes, but I can't understand why people complain about that. This movie is an absolute masterpiece from start to finish. One of the best if not the best mob/gangster movie of my lifetime. The story is a journey, a complex journey, so buckle up and enjoy the ride.

The actors are wonderful. The film is very long, and a bit hard to follow. I do not recommend it.

The Irishman is, quite simply, a Masterpiece.
When it was released last year many people were put off by its slow pace and epic length so the film didn’t get anywhere near the recognition it really deserved.
In comparison with Scorsese’s other Mob films such as Mean Streets, Goodfellas and Casino, this one is not nearly as fast and flashy and it moves much more leisurely.
But that actually works perfectly with this material and the story Scorsese is telling.
The Irishman is much deeper and more melancholy than those films - but don’t worry - it still has plenty of the action and drama that those other other films are known for.
It is a story about friendship ...betrayal..and ultimately ....supreme regret.
As always with Scorsese’s films, the music is just great, perfectly capturing the different time periods the films story takes us through.
The films length is formidable, but as you watch the story and Scorsese takes you into his world - you wont even notice it.
The Irishman really feels like a Grande Finale to all the other Mob films Scorsese has done - a perfect conclusion to the story he began with Mean Streets and then took through Goodfellas and Casino.
This is also likely the last time you will see these talents working together at the very top of their craft like this...
so it truly is a film to be treasured.

After all the hype, this is all you've got? I mean, it's an OK gangster movie, if a bit long. Overall, it's pretty slow. (Since Netflix did it, I'm surprised they didn't make it into a four-part mini-series.) But it really doesn't go anywhere or do anything. (There are lots of hanging bits that could have been addressed, to make it into a bit longer series.) It's a kind of "Forrest Gump" for wise-guys, without the humour. Not exactly a waste of time, but certainly not going to be a classic.

Great film, even though the aging and reverse aging of the actors don't always work.

It was pretty good but too long at 3 and a half hours. Also, Deniro is too old. I couldn't take him seriously as a tough guy with his frail 70's body.
