Missionary Julia Foster loves working alongside her parents, ministering and caring for young girls in India. But when the family must return to England due to illness, she readily accepts the burden for her parents' financial support. Taking on a job at Highland Hall as governess she quickly finds that teaching her four privileged, ill-mannered charges at a grand estate is more challenging than expected, and she isn't sure what to make of the estate's preoccupied master, Sir William Ramsey. Widowed and left to care for his two young children and his deceased cousin's two teenage girls, William is consumed with saving the estate from financial ruin.

It was a good story even though Julia was a little too good to be true. It seemed like everyone had faults except for Julia, who was was all knowing and wise and knew what was best for everyone. That isn't realistic and kind of spoiled the story a little for me.

I love it! Then again, I do love Downton Abbey! I just thought Julia was a fantastic character!

I would've told every character off at least once and might have been disowned by the family pretty much right away.

I tried with this book. I really tried. This book is desperately boring, the dialogue trite, and the character development mediocre (and there are too many characters and storylines snuggled in to this book!). The heroine was also to stiff, it was like she was not meant to be human. Half way through, I had to kick this book out the door.
