How Radical Conservationists Are Destroying Our Natural Heritage

Forty million Americans have been driven from their lands and rural culture is being systematically crushed, even as wildlife, forests, and rangelands are dying. Journalist Elizabeth Nickson's investigations into these events have revealed a shocking truth: rather than safeguarding our environment, radical conservationists are actually destroying our natural heritage. In Eco-Fascists, Nickson documents the destructive impact of the environmental movement in North America and beyond, detailing the extreme damage environmental radicals in local and national government agencies are doing to the land, the ecosystems, and the people. Readers of Alston Chase's Playing God in Yellowstone and In a Dark Wood, and anyone who is deeply concerned about global warming and the environment must read Elizabeth Nickson's Eco-Fascists.

There is a problem with this book in that it does not follow the money [and that is the first rule of all investigative journalism] and as a result, the author falls for political theater. Who owns the majority of those lands which come under wetland, conservation regulations and laws? Who founded the conversavation movement? The robber barrons, now called philanthropists. One has to really research into the tax breaks, and tax payouts, which the tax laws reward to the owners of these lands. And yest, well-meaning activists are routinely used as unknowing dupes and rubes of the super-rich, just as are religionists [nothing more anti-union than Jerry Falwell's church], and the militarists, and those employees of many a corporation. The author is confused as to the underlying agenda, because she didn't follow the money.

Predictable use of "Reductio ad Hitlerum" by conservatives.

Excellent analysis of the environmental lobby and the insider deal that are corrupting the system for the benefit of a few insiders.

Apr 21, 2013 This is a romp through one authors foibles at experiencing land trust involvements on Salt Spring Island; and as a way to get back at all the 'greenies' she sheds light on how the environmental movement has been taken over but well-placed misfits who have not got one clue. So its really one American versus another bunch of Americans; or more aptly, genocide, in some situations, against Americans.
But as for Salt Spring island, well, rules are rules, try living in a condo development same things happen. A good read on the de-populating of the US mid-west, and allusions to sinister motivations by well funded environments groups who have as their heads some of the more prestigious businessmen of the USA, and some of the most prolific polluters as their leaders. (Seems an American trait, quickly moving to Canada, rich kid well-placed person with a plan, to subvert...(see The Future of Food CD) There's hypocrisy, there's stupidity, and the frustration is palatable. When not laughing, one can get very upset, or depressed that there could be such dumb people floating around. Maybe its kind of a macabre humour? Lots of notes and references. An easy read word wise, but not so much conscience wise. No one trusts any more; and maybe with good reason, having seen pollution first hand its understandable people do not want to be conned again; but, that should be no reason to subvert ones rights, ownership or livlihood. Then this all started with the judgement that incorporated entities are 'people" therein is the REAL problem. See the Corporation.....

An excellent commentary on the negative impacts of the green movement. Documents how the environmental movement has been hijacked by ignorant and arrogant people.

This book illustrates why the Gulf Islands are depopulating. Nickson wanted to turn her 28 acres into 2 lots 14 acres each, hardly a Levittown.
In Victoria, a subdivision title document averages 2 pages. Her Saltspring one (with attachments) was 126 pages. The Islands Trust guys says:" in ten years, only one in one thousand applications like that of Ms. Nickson has been approved". (p.176-177).
