Intense scary up to Jody's willingness to deal with violent time centered issues as only she can do. I could only skim as the horror that awaited ea family was too much to bear witness to.

I can usually enjoy and finish a book by Jodi in a week or less. This one took me over a sluggish 2 weeks to get through. I feel that the chapters were WAAAAY too long and contained unnecessary filler. But, I heard that the ending was…

Holy cow this is an amazing book. It's not happy or feel-good but it's an important read. I will be thinking about this book and the characters for a long time.

A book for our times. The story about a type of event that happens far too often in this country. A mass shooting at a school. The immediate and lasting effects of such an occurrence on the individuals and the community at large.

This book was number 23 on the "100 most challenged and banned books of America 2010-2019", according to the ALA. A school shooting tears families, friends, and a community apart. A bullied teen becomes a murderer. How did his parents not…

Well written and thought provoking. If a book is being banned in the USA it’s probably a good idea to read it instead.

I can see why people in the USA want this book banned. Read it for yourself.

An excellent, suspenseful novel with a powerful conclusion. The description of interactions among teens is most insightful and compelling. I will read more of Picoult after this introduction!

This book drove me. I couldn’t read it fast enough to find out, what next? American school shootings are a very current topic now as well as when the book was published in 2007. I’m enthralled with legal cases, and this one delivered,…

The subject matter is obviously difficult and the handling of it is some of the best writing I have experienced from this author, although I have read only a few of her books. However, this book is overly long and drawn out in some…

I started reading before I knew what the book was really about and was very interested in the female judge. Then I realized it was about a school shooting and I thought "Oh no I don't want to read about this", but then I read a little…

I really enjoy Picoult's novels, and this was no exception. She writes all angles of a topic and somehow manages to make characters sympathetic when you wouldn't expect them to be. Her books do tend to be detail-heavy, so I skimmed through…

Jodi writes great books and I am reading a lot of hers. This book went into depth about bully's in schools and explains how a teen feels being bullied forever in his life. It was hard to read at times but worth it. I liked this book a lot…

When we hear of horrific crimes on TV, the first thing we want to know is "why?" Jodi Picoult does an excellent job of leading you to understand the thought-processes of a bullied teen, a "popular" teen, and the other people in their…

Good book, but the pace is very slow. There is a bit of an interesting twist at the end, but I definitely skimmed through a lot of the middle.

Not my usual wheel house but that is the point of reading book club books. This is my first novel by this author and I can't help but be reminded by the YA Lurlene McDaniel books I read as a teenager. The writing was very similar but I…

I really liked this book as I am a fan of Jodi Picoult. I found the book to be engaging and the twist at the end which threw off the whole book for me. The thing that really stood out is how the details of this school shooting are very…

I also found this book a little disappointing. But as always I admire her writing and giving us many different characters with different views. Jodi Picoult opens the mind with her writing.
