I am sad to say I am disappointed with this series. I had heard good reports about season one, but I suppose I expected too much. All the characters are flawed beyond what is reasonable, and the writers did a terrible job with the season finale. I liked the first two books, but this third installment is terrible. Made it about 50 pages and decided the author clearly lost his mojo.
PS - There is only one book at the library, so I went to a used bookstore to buy this book. I am donating it today! As I have been waiting to watch season seven, I decided to re-watch season one. Although I've enjoyed all of the seasons, this is by far the best one, as it delves more into Dexter's origin story.

Light-hearted teen drama adapted from the 80's movie. However, this show stands on it's own legs (or haunches?) - the characters are likable, the dialogue witty, the episode plots compelling, and the story arc mysterious. This was a great sequel. As a previous reader commented, the beginning was slow and really unnecessary. The author used 75 pages to say what could have been done in 10.
However, once you get to around page 100, you will not be able to put this book down. When you finish it, you will race to the library and kick yourself because you forgot to put the third book on hold, and will seriously consider just buying it because you won't be able to wait 2-3 days for your book to come in!This was a great sequel. this novel is terrific. as sanderson's first novel, he did an amazing job. laced with several sub-plots and a compelling mystery, you will find that the worst part about reading this book is when you have to take a break to eat, work and sleep. every spare moment you can find you will be using to get back to these "glowing, silver-sheened" pages.
if you like robert jordan then you will like this author even better (sanderson is taking over the wheel of time series by the way, now that robert jordan has passed on).this novel is terrific. as sanderson's first novel, he did an amazing job. laced with several sub-plots and a compelling mystery, you will find that the worst part about reading this book is when you have to take a break to eat, work and sleep.…

poorly written and slow plot development. the story has potential, but unfortunately the writer just isn't very good. i made it about half way through the book before i skipped to the last few pages and was further disappointed by the end.

this is my favorite book of the dark tower series. and, in my opinion, among the top five of all stephen king books.
for those people that associate horror stories with king, this book isn't scary at all, but instead very imaginative and slightly on the side of modern day fantasy adventure.
although you could start with this book and after 20 pages have a good idea what is going on, i would suggest getting the first book, the gunslinger, since it is only about 100-150 pages (very short).
as for other stephen king books, the long walk (penned as richard bachman) is also in his top five ever written and also a very fast read at less than 300 pages.this is my favorite book of the dark tower series. and, in my opinion, among the top five of all stephen king books.

this is both a creative and insightful story about the myth of excalibur, and focuses on arthur's half-sister, morgan le fay, and on his mother.
bradley does an excellent job working up the psychological profiles of her characters, particularly morgan le fay, and takes the book in a terrific spiritual direction.

this film from the late 50's portrays jimmy stewart as a former-prosecutor, now-defense lawyer. it has some excellent court room scenes which are rather educational for a law student taking evidence, criminal law, or criminal procedure.
however, stewart is only a shadow of his former self compared to previous movies. if you want to see a jimmy stewart film where he has a fire in his belly, i recommend "mr. smith goes to washington".this film from the late 50's portrays jimmy stewart as a former-prosecutor, now-defense lawyer. it has some excellent court room scenes which are rather educational for a law student taking evidence, criminal law, or criminal procedure.

the word that comes to mind when i think of ayn rand's works is "brooding". both this book and the the book "atlas shrugged" focus on rand's objectivism philosophy.
the story itself paints a 'me against the world' type of picture and casts the protagonist as a stranger in the modern world of the 40's. similar to j.d. salinger's works, it's about someone who is a creative-type in a world surrounded by phonies and imitators, and how people continuously try to tantalize, trap, brainwash, and persuade our protagonist into conforming. this book makes me think of a line from the song the pusher by steppenwolf: "i've seen alot of people walking around with tombstones in their eyes".
i down-graded my rating of the book because it is rather slow-paced and long. however, rand uses the slow-pace and endless description to help bring her "brooding" about "bromides" to life.the word that comes to mind when i think of ayn rand's works is "brooding". both this book and the the book "atlas shrugged" focus on rand's objectivism philosophy.

this is the first book of a historical fiction series set in the prehistoric era focusing on the evolutionary transition from neanderthals to homo sapiens. the book stars young orphan ayla and chronicles her struggles with being a homo sapien among a group of neanderthals as she grows to womanhood. this is a powerful story of an accomplished woman who proves that she can do anything the men can, and better.
the author, with a background in anthropology technical writing, brings the prehistoric world to life, detailing not only these fierce tribes, but also the animals and landscape.
in my opinion, book two, the valley of the horses, is the best of the series in terms of storyline creativity.
also, a note to parents who intend their kids to read this series - auel does tend to go off on sexual behavior tangents now and then in all of her books, so parental guidance is advised.this is the first book of a historical fiction series set in the prehistoric era focusing on the evolutionary transition from neanderthals to homo sapiens. the book stars young orphan ayla and chronicles her struggles with being a homo sapien among…

a controversial book from the 60's that had several thousand words cut in order to simply be published. the book evaluates social norms in terms of religion, sexual behavior, violence, and conformity in general. ground-breaking fiction for the 60's, this book is still VERY relevant today.
the author will educate your mind and keep you entertained at the same time by touching your emotions, engaging your spirituality, and elevating your awareness. not only do you obtain spiritual growth, you also get some good action and an original science fiction story to boot.
